Stanford Camps

Camp Cardinal: An experienced team of counselors, innovative programming and daily activities make Camp Cardinal one of the best day-camp options for kids 5 to 12 years old. Dates and sessions are being finalized. Please return to the link periodically to see date offerings and registration information.

Stanford Athletic Camps: Young people 7 to 18 can find more than 20 sports-specific camps located at Stanford. Soccer, golf, swimming, tennis, basketball, gymnastics, lacrosse, track, and more are offered at all levels. See website for specific sports date offerings and registration information.

Additionally, several programs independent of Stanford University operate on campus, such as Stanford Jazz Workshop and Junior State America. The programs are not affiliated with, nor are operated by Stanford. These camps and programs are still being finalized. Please return to this page periodically, since they will be added as ready.  

Stanford Jazz Workshop: The 2025 summer programs include Giant Steps Day Camp, Jazz Camp and Jazz Institute. Offered to rising middle-school students through high school, the summer programs create an immersive “jazz village” experience for those who choose day or residential programs. Financial aid is available.

Stanford has a wide range of learning opportunities, including programs for high school and community college students.  In addition, there are numerous internship opportunities for undergraduate students with application deadlines ranging from January to May. AI in Medicine and Imaging Summer Programs for High School Students Stanford’s AIMI for for high school students offer the following: A virtual Summer Health Boot Camp, a virtual two-week Summer Research Internship (and opportunities to serve as student leaders within that internship). See website for recording of program overview. Scholarship and fee waiver deadline: Feb. 21, 2025; Application deadline: Feb. 28, 2025.  

Cardiothoracic Surgical Skills and Education Center Summer Internship is designed to educate high school students considering careers in science and medicine in cardiothoracic surgical anatomy and physiology as well as surgical techniques that will be utilized in pre-medical and medical training. Application deadline is March 14, 2025. Early application is encouraged.

Clinical Anatomy Summer Program is a one-week course for high school students considering careers in medical and health-related fields, such as medicine, surgery, dentistry, EMT/paramedics, nursing, biomedical engineering, occupational therapy, physical therapy, sports medicine, and medical education. It offers a choice of June 9-13, 2025; June 23-27, 2025 and July 7-11, 2025. Application deadline is March 8, 2025.

CNI-X: Clinical Neuroscience Immersion Experience is an intensive summer program that generally follows a student’s sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school. Students attend a two-week (10-day) session which provides introductory exposure to fascinating topics in neuroscience, psychiatry and psychology plus an opportunity to complete a collaborative capstone project. Scholarships are available. Applications are full; waitlist submissions are being accepted.

GRIPS: Genomics Research Internship Program at Stanford is a 20-hour, eight-weeklong research intensive experience for high school students. Program participants will be placed in a research laboratory for the summer and conduct genomics research under the supervision of a lab mentor. June 16 to August 7, 2025. Students in GRIPS must commit to participating for the entire duration of the program. Application deadline, with letter of recommendation, is Feb. 28, 2025. Scholarship and financial aid are available.

Inspiring Future Scientists through Shadowing (IFSS): This free day program providea rising high school juniors and seniors who are at least 16 years of age with the opportunity to learn more about cutting-edge chemical research. Throughout the two-week program, June 16-27, 2025, students  will observe and shadow different researchers to learn broadly about a wide array of scientific topics and techniques. Application deadline is April 1, 2025. 

PIPS: The Pediatrics Internship Program at Stanford is a 6-week program in which high school students (rising juniors and seniors) from diverse backgrounds learn about science, medicine and research with Stanford faculty, postdoctoral fellows, students and researchers by completing a research project. The program is designed as an introductory experience for students with little-to-no prior exposure to research. Deadline to apply: February 24, 2025  

SAGE Camp, Science Accelerating Girls’ Engagement in STEM: At SLAC National Laboratories, Menlo Park for girls 14-17. Hosted by the Dept. of Energy National Laboratories, this weeklong, residential program offers hands-on activities in scientific projects, job shadowing, facility tours, professional growth talks, and an inside look at leading-edge experiments high school students rarely see. June 22-28, 2025. Free. Application period opens Feb. 3, 2025 and the recommended deadline is March 21, 2025.

SHTEM Summer Internship Program: The Stanford Compression Forum hosts this internship, intended to provide early exposure to research transcending traditional disciplinary boundaries. Students will be grouped to multifaceted projects that will benefit from their existing interests and strengths, while exposing them to new areas. Projects will be mentored by students, faculty and staff of the Stanford Compression Forum and its affiliated organizations. Themes will span and combine the science of information and communication, engineering, the arts, linguistics, psychology, biology, neuroscience, computer science, technology, philosophy, and design, among other areas. There is no fee to participate, but students must commit to attending the duration of the program. Note: The SHTEM internship is on hiatus in 2025 in order to enhance and restructure the program. SLAC Summer Internship Program: Participants in this program at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory include high school (ages 18 and older), undergraduate and graduate level college students. The internship programs are designed to provide students with stimulating, real-world work experiences. Interns can work up to twelve weeks from May until September, depending upon department needs and student school schedules. All students must be authorized to work in the U.S. and must pass a basic background check.

SIMR - Stanford Institutes of Medicine Summer Research Program is a no-cost 8-week summer research internship program open to current high school juniors and seniors.This day program offers hands-on research under the direct guidance of a mentor at a research laboratory within the Stanford Institutes of Medicine, and involves 8 areas of research including all 5 Institutes at the Stanford School of Medicine: Immunology (ITI- Immunity, Transplantation and Infection), Cancer Biology, Stem Cell, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular Institute and 3 other areas/disciplines of research: Genetics, Bioinformatics, and Bioengineering. This a day program and participants are expected to get to campus on their own. A $500 stipend for transportation is offered and larger stipends are available as determined by need. Preference to Bay Area residents.

SMASH-Med High School Summer Program: Smash Academy collaborates with Stanford through its S-Spire Center as a summer outreach program to explore careers in healthcare. SMASH-Med is on hiatus for 2025. See Smash Academy’s website for another opportunity in the Bay Area.

SPINWIP: The Stanford Program for Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in Physics is a free, virtual 3-week summer outreach program hosted by the Stanford Physics Department and the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology, designed to get high-school girls excited about physics, particularly those who are underrepresented in the field. Students will learn about cutting-edge research in physics in fields such as quantum physics, quantum computing, astrophysics, and cosmology. They will also learn how to code in Python, and then apply their coding skills to physics-based projects. Students will attend lectures by Stanford professors and researchers  attend college planning and career development workshops. Students will have the opportunity to form mentorship relationships with Stanford students and professors. Applications for 2025 have not yet opened. To be notified, filll out this form

Stanford AI4ALL aims to increase diversity in the field of artificial intelligence. During this three-week online program, students are immersed in AI through a combination of lectures, hands-on research projects and mentoring activities. Participants engage with professionals in the field to learn about cutting-edge ideas, such as how AI can be applied to medicine, disaster response, and combating poverty. This program also aims to build a close-knit community and encourage interest among underrepresented populations in the field. Financial aid is available. Deadline to apply is Jan. 24, 2025.

Stanford EXPLORE 2025: A Lecture Series on Biomedical Research for High School Students: This three-week Zoom webinar series (tentatively with in-person option) covers the basic fundamentals and current research areas represented by Immunology, Neuroscience, Regenerative and Stem Cell Medicine, Cancer Biology, Bioengineering and Bioinformatics at Stanford Medicine. Taught by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, with some faculty lectures, there will be opportunities to learn about the graduate and medical school education pathways from current students. The schedule is 9 am-12 pm daily and no homework assignments will be given. July 7 - 25, 2025. Registration opens March 1, 2025. Financial aid available.

Stanford Healthcare Tri-Valley Clinical Academy: Held in Pleasanton, this is a two-week program (July 22 to Aug. 2, 2025) designed for Tri-Valley high school juniors and seniors with a strong interest in medicine as a career. Students will participate in an enriched curriculum consisting of hands-on activities, interactive lectures, and simulation experiences.  Students must be 16 years old to participate. There is a $50 application fee and a $4,000 fee to participate, and scholarships are available. Application deadline is March 10, 2025.

Stanford Introduction to Logic - A course on symbolic logic is offered in-person and online:  In-person two-week camp (non-overnight) for high school students, June 16 to 27, 2025 (Deadline May 31, 2025). Online two-week camp for high school students, July 7 to 18, 2025 (Deadline June 30, 2025). In-person Teacher professional development, July 7 to 11, 2025 (Deadline June 30, 2025). 

Stanford Medical Youth Science Program is a five-week immersive enrichment program focused on science and medicine that is open to low-income, first-generation high school juniors who live in Northern California. It includes a hospital internship, lectures and a public health research project. The session runs from June 23 to July 25, 2025 and students must provide their own transportation each weekday. Deadline to apply is March 17, 2025

Stanford Medicine Art and Anatomy Summer Program is a two-week, in-person immersion in visual story-telling. Two sessions offered are June 16 - 27, 2025 and July 7-18, 2025. It includes a speaker series of anatomists, physicians and creatives, followed by a week of drawing mentorship with a final illustration. Final projects will be presented to museum curators, artists and physicians. Candidates are people interested in the science and the arts and no drawing experience is required. Application deadline is March 14, 2025

Stanford Medicine Clinical Summer Internship Stanford CSI brings together curious learners from differing backgrounds to actively engage in the exploration of the art and science behind world-class medicine. There will be situations of real medical cases, visits to the emergency room”Life Flight” station and Stanford clinics, sessions with medical students, and residents, plus guided dissections led by Stanford faculty and doctors. Two sessions July 14 to 25, 2025 and July 28 to Aug. 8, 2025. Application deadline is Feb. 24, 2025.

Stanford Neurodiversity Project - Research, Education and Advocacy Camp for High Schoolers (SNP-Reach): This two-week summer camp is for high school students across the U.S. to learn more about neurodiversity advocacy and the science behind neurodiversity. Students have a variety of opportunities such as learning more about neurodiversity advocacy exploring possible career paths, or future areas of study, hearing visiting lecturers and participating in small-group projects based on design-thinking. Choose from two sessions: July 7 to 18, 2025 and July 21 to Aug. 1, 2025. This is a day program, and scholarships are available.

Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institute -  Academic enrichment programs for high school students, grades 8 to 11. Online courses range from a few weeks to several weeks in length, no credit awarded. Now accepting applications.

Stanford Summer Humanities Institute is a three-week residential program where rising high school juniors and seniors explore the big questions at the heart of the humanities in seminars led by Stanford professors. Sessions are June 22 to July 11, 2025 and July 13 to Aug. 1, 2025.  Application deadline is Feb. 3, 2025. Financial aid granted on need.

Stanford Summer Session (June 21 to Aug. 17, 2025) - Residential or commuter attendees. High school, undergraduate, graduate, gap year. Must be 16 by the start of the program. Regular application submission deadline Feb. 12, 2025.

Stanford University Mathematics Camp, or SUMaC, is a three-week camp that admits a select group of rising high school juniors and seniors from around the world for intensive study in advanced mathematics. Explore mathematics beyond the scope of what is typically taught in the classroom. SUMaC is for students who have an exceptional interest in mathematics, and who are prepared for study of abstract algebra and number theory, or algebraic topology. Two online camps and two residential camps will be offered. Deadline to apply is Feb. 3, 2025.

Stanford Young Investigators: At the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, high school scholars spend the summer working in research groups and laboratories on the main Stanford campus. Study options include: Environment, Geology and Energy. Students are supervised by graduate scholars, post docs and lab managers. Once a week there are lab tours, talks and field trips. The summer internship application process opens Feb. 1, 2025 and the deadline is March 15, 2025.
