Assistant Vice President for Community Engagement

Preeti Hehmeyer

Preeti joined External Relations in December 2020 to lead strategy for the Office of Community Engagement. As the assistant vice president for community engagement, she works to connect and coordinate Stanford research and teaching resources for more purposeful engagement in the region, nation and world. In this role, she reports to Megan Swezey Fogarty, associate vice president for community engagement. Preeti leads efforts involving dozens of diverse campus engagement hubs to advance collaboration with external communities, with a focus on addressing mutual challenges around affordability, education, health, and sustainability. Previously, Preeti served for five years as the associate director for Stanford’s Bill Lane Center for the American West, where she was responsible for the Center’s partnerships, programming and operations. Preeti is a lecturer in the Stanford Public Policy Program. 

Prior to joining Stanford, Preeti was a management consultant who specialized in local government operations. She has also worked with the University of Southern California’s Sol Price School of Public Policy, and the University of California’s Washington D.C. Center.  Preeti holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and city/regional planning from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California, where she was a city/county management fellow

Preeti is serving in her second term as an appointed member to the City of Mountain View’s Environmental Planning Commission.
