Veterans Day 2023

Stanford University's Office of Military-Affiliated Communities, the City of Palo Alto, American Legion Palo Alto Post 375, Military Officers Association of America, Blue Star Moms of the South Bay and Gunn High School have joined the federal Veterans Administration in this annual event to recognize, as a community, the contributions of veterans and how they continue to make a difference in our communities today.

Scheduled activities include:

Friday, Nov. 10 - Veterans Coffee Convo

Please join us in celebrating and honoring our veteran community at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability (SDSS) for Veterans Day. ​Featured speakers are Shane Hale, program manager from the Office for Military-Affiliated Communities (OMAC) who will talk about the veterans at Stanford, and ​Chuck Litchfield, senior associate dean and chief operating officer, who will share some of the history of the veteran population on campus. We will have a book raffle, pastries, other baked good, coffee, and tea. The public is welcome; please register here.

Friday, Nov. 10 - Wreaths at Memorial Court and Memorial Auditorium, Stanford

The Office of the President places floral wreaths and a letter at both Memorial Court and Memorial Auditorium as symbols of our gratitude and respect for the services and sacrifice of Stanford’s veterans. Memorial Auditorium will be open for viewing memorial plaques, 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This year, on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Health Care System hosts the second joint community event recognizing our nation's veterans. Stanford President Richard Saller and Palo Alto Mayor Lydia Kou will speak. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Nov. 11 - Stanford Veterans Day Reception

6 to 8 p.m.
Stanford Faculty Club

Stanford’s Office for Military-Affiliated Communities (OMAC) will host a Veterans Day reception at the Stanford Faculty Club to commemorate the service of Stanford community members. The event is open to Stanford students, fellows, alumni, faculty, and staff with military affiliations. Speaker: Joe Felter, founding member and center director of the Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation. MC: Joel Johnson, '22, MSCS '23, MBA candidate, and Marine Corps veteran.
