Kyle Cole

Kyle joined the Office of Community Engagement in January 2023 after working as the Director of the Office of STEM Outreach since 2019.  He began working in science outreach in 2005 as the Associate Director of the Stanford Center for Probing the Nanoscale where he developed the Summer Institute for Middle School Teachers.  

Prior to Stanford, Kyle was the Director of Precollege Programs at Oregon State University where he oversaw science outreach programs ranging from teacher professional development workshops, to after-school clubs, to undergraduate online-mentoring of K-12 students. 

Kyle did his undergraduate work at the University of California, Santa Cruz, received his Master's degree from California State University, Sonoma, and his PhD from Yale University.  In addition to science outreach, he has worked in the biotech industry and taught college courses ranging from organic chemistry to active-learning pedagogy.
