Merry works with the Office of Community Engagement and various campus partners to advance effective international engagement, providing support to global visitors, including international university representatives, visiting scholars and dignitaries. Merry oversees global community resources, internal and external communications related to international visitors, and outreach to Stanford’s international community and visitors.
Merry joined the Office of Community Engagement in September 2020. Prior to her current role, Merry worked in the Office of International Affairs to advance international research opportunities and academic collaborations for the university. She also developed central university resources and services to enhance international travel and study/research abroad for Stanford members.
Before that, Merry worked at UC Riverside Extension’s International Education Programs in California, supporting international students by providing educational technology resources for English learning. Her interest in international exchange grew through her experience teaching English in rural communities in Japan and South Korea, where she fostered cross-cultural exchange alongside English learning.
She is trained in Agile and Scrum, product management processes that involve iterative development with self-organizing cross-functional teams. Merry holds a BA in English from CSU Sacramento and an MA in International Studies from the University of San Francisco.
